A native of Southern California, Dr. Hannah Lewis received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from UC Santa Barbara then graduated from the University of Southern California Dental School. Before moving to Maui, she practiced dentistry for 15 years, ten years in her own office in Dana Point, California.
Dr. Lewis has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, learning from masters around the country, to bring advanced technologies and techniques to her patients. Her special area of expertise is creating beautiful, natural smiles that are beautiful in form and function. She is very experienced in Porcelain restorations and Invisalign. She also strives to put patients at ease with a gentle and caring manner and welcomes fearful and apprehensive patients.
In her free time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs. She loves yoga, hiking, and being involved with animal rescue organizations.
Dr. Deborah Ho is native to Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas. Soon after graduation, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to attend Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Her love for dentistry did not appear in her life until she experienced having braces as an adult. It was then that she realized how many times she had been a patient going through so many different types of dental treatment as well as numerous times a year. She made it a goal to advocate the importance of prevention and oral health.
Dr.Ho has worked in a variety of offices from cosmetic dentistry to community clinics. As a former student, it is her professional as well as personal passion to care, educate and help people obtain optimum oral health. She is motivated by the enjoyment of interacting with people and knowing that her patients are capable of having confidence and a great sense of satisfaction when it comes to their dental needs.
Her other passions include her faith, cooking, exploring the world and being a tour guide on Maui to all of her friends and family who have supported her throughout her career and travel half the nation to visit her.

Dr. Kai Matthes, M.D., Ph.D., Anesthesiologist
My academic accomplishments are in the area of clinical expertise and innovation with a research focus on simulator training and translational research projects involving procedure development. In the area of clinical expertise, I was a faculty member of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston and am currently a board member of The Anesthesia Medical Group Inc. serving as a clinical anesthesiologist at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, HI. In the area of innovation, I have a broad research background in the field of anesthesiology, gastrointestinal endoscopy and minimally-invasive surgery. This allowed me to engage in multidisciplinary research projects facilitating the collaboration of anesthesiologists, surgeons and gastroenterologists. I have obtained a summa cum laude degree Ph.D. in gastroenterology in the field of medical simulation and training. My research foci include: natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), simulator team training in interventional endoscopy and laparoscopy, regional anesthetic options to supplement minimal access surgical procedures and airway management. My research accomplishments are in the field of Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) and have been recognized nationally and internationally with invitations as faculty to international meetings such as the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery (WCES) and Digestive Disease Week (DDW) having received awards from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). My research group pioneered several new procedures, including peroral endoscopic transgastric distal pancreatectomy, and transvaginal nephrectomy, with initial reports in major peer-reviewed journals. While being a resident in anesthesiology, I obtained a very competitive international grant of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) to support a research project about NOTES pancreatic tumor enucleation, which I completed in the allotted time frame. I am currently developing a new technique of fiberoptic intubation of patients with a difficult airway for which I maintain a patent on this new technology with the potential to improve the current standard of care. In regard to Service to the Community, I had the privilege of having served as an Ambassador for the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). During this international training program, we educated Vietnamese physicians in anesthesiology and interventional endoscopy. In the area of teaching and educational leadership, I had the privilege of lecturing at Harvard Medical School. I engaged in teaching several courses in the medical school curriculum, including ‘Introduction to the Profession’, ‘Integration Week’ and ‘Pharmacology’. In 2010, I have been awarded an HMS Excellence in Teaching Award for my activities as a tutor of pharmacology. In 2010, I founded as a sole member the company Endosim, LLC (www.endosim.com). This start-up company is providing simulation models and medical training for physicians, nurses and medical device companies in the United States and Europe. With only 3 full time and 6 part time employees, the company has an annual gross revenue between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 USD. I am also Co-Founder of the company AniniMed, which was founded in 2016. The purpose of this company is intellectual property development.
